Turnaround of business in digitally disrupted Media house
Type of client?
Leading Swedish Media House, reaching more than a million consumers through multiple channels.
What was the problem they were facing?
Whole industry was disrupted by transition from paper to digital media and the media house had multiple challenges. Revenue and profit were falling and the future very uncertain.
How did we support?
Set up a systemic structure for developing and implementing a new strategy through fast-cycled experimentation that both allowed the organization to test new ways of working and simultaneously created value, both through new revenue sources and cost reductions. They key in unlocking this potential was found in expanding the solution space which allowed organizational members to rethink established activities, norms and systems. Moreover, the tough situation of the media house had created an anxiety based modus operandi, where people were more focused on preventing the loss of what they had, rather than trying to create something new. The fast cycle experimentation was able to turn this around. In the short term, this enabled new ideas to emerge on the front-end of the business, while on the strategic level the project assisted the transition towards a digital future.
What was the result?
The project was able to create long lasting performance improvements that created a platform for future value creation. These, and other measures, enabled the company to turn around. It is now flourishing again.
